SHE’S
BACK and KEEPIN’ IT REAL!
When Catz Entertainments’ Taborah performed at
the Billboard Dance Music Summit in September of 2004,
DJ’s immediately wanted to know, “who is
she” and “where did she come from”?
Now, after her smash debut of her first USA release,
“I AM” (the rising) the word is out, that
Taborah is “back” and “here”
to stay! With an entry onto the USA Billboard Dance
Club Chart in the first Billboard issue of 2005, Taborah’s
six octave vocals along with help via various mixes
from famed producer/remixer Johnny Rocks, rocketed her
onto the USA landscape where she was destined to make
a splash. With the subsequent release of a handful of
remixes from Friscia and Lamboy, Giuseppe D, and Jeff
Barringer & J Star, “I AM” (the rising)
landed in the Top Five spot and remained on the
charts
for 16 weeks.
At Radio mixshow, “I AM” the rising was
an immediate favorite and with Sirius Satellite Radio
–The Beat jumping on board with early rotation,
“I AM” (the rising) went on to become a
household favorite. One might ask, “How is it
that without major label support could one artist, and
one track raise so much attention with the demand of
the record remaining strong for over nine months with
features on QTelevision and interviews with radio veteran,
Joe Franklin but without the support of commercial radio
rotation? In a sentence, with support from the gay and
lesbian community! Taborah unleashed her talent during
the 2004 Gay Life Expo and her inspirational lyrics
struck a chord across the nation! Taborah went on to
perform during the Heritage of Pride Rally, Rapture
on The River, PrideFest and Carolines where she performed
with the likes of Randy Jones of the Village People.
Recently Taborah performed during The Dance Music Hall
of Fame Induction Awards paying tribute to dance music’s
finest, where she was backed by Ray Chew and the Crew
of Showtime at the Apollo. Her self-independence single,
“I AM (the rising) has been licensed by several
lifestyle companies. Taborah is poised with continued
success when she releases her next single to be determined
by a fun contest among Taborah fans during the upcoming
Gay Life Expo at the Jacob Javits Center in November
2005. Who is Taborah and where did she come from? Ladies
and Gentlemen... Welcome to the world of Taborah!
She has earned the title bestowed upon her by European
insiders as the “Lady of Dance with the BIG VOICE”.
It is no wonder that, Taborah Adams, as the songwriter,
voice and face of Blackwood and under her own name very
quickly became the darling of the European dance scene
with radio, print, television and dance clubs clamoring
for her at every turn. In the land, where dance music
has been king for as long as one can remember, the exotically
sexy, introspective, sassy and amazingly talented singer-songwriter-dance-queen
has the vocal range and ability to really lift the music
from the turntables to the dance floor.
NOW, Taborah Adams is back! She has left Blackwood behind,
and is now known - as, TABORAH. With collaborations
under her belt with Producer/MixMaster Johnny Rocks
(Madonna, Cher, Celine Dion), who has a talent for working
with vocal tracks and is no stranger to critical acclaim
and New Jersey native, Giuseppe D who just wrapped up
a hot new Taborah track “All I Gave To You”
to be released in the future, Taborah is on her way
to establishing her reputation as a singer/songwriter
with great on-stage presence and personality. With licenses
on Centaur Entertainment, Masterbeat and Thrive Records
for “I AM” (the rising) says Catz Entertainments’
Catherine R. Laporte, “We immediately understood
Taborahs big voice and felt strongly that Taborah would
deliver here in the US. As an indie indie label and
management company, we have to set our own parameters
and market and promote in creative ways. Our strategy
is much like rock promotion in that we expect to perform,
perform, and perform. We also have the ability to move
as our fan base dictates, because we have not relied
on commercial radio airplay, but instead programs such
as DMX, AOL and other internet radio and key DJ’s
from around the country who have helped to get our message
out. Further, Taborah is not just an artist on the label,
but part of the team. We strongly believe in our message
that people want to hear positive lyrics which is moving
and inspirational. Taborah hails truly from the dance
world and can write songs, as well as deliver her natural
talent on stage. I think music lovers desire talent
and they see and hear that in Taborah. We are looking
forward to a long partnership with Taborah and are pleased
that the United States is finally getting a chance to
hear what Europe has known for years”!
According to Taborah, “I am so excited about this
period in my life, and “I AM (the rising)”
represents the positive energy gained from taking control
of my life, to include my music. I have matured as a
songwriter, vocalist and performer, and carry in this
recording, that energy. I AM (the rising)” represents
that spirit. Little did I realize that it would strike
a chord with so many people, who feel the same way!
Freedom and faith is a wonderful thing and I want to
thank my fans for their support of me and my songs!
I am very excited to share my next single with everyone
and love my fans for supporting me over the last year.
I have had the time of my life and enjoyed meeting each
and every one of them who have shared their own stories
of independence!” When Taborah is not writing
songs, or performing, she is busy as an entrepreneur,
utilizing her interior design skills, and will soon
add a Design degree alongside her Dance Music Awards.
No doubt her on-the-road digs will be absolutely fab!
Taborah as Blackwood, wrote several hit records for
herself and others. Her popularity took her throughout
Italy and Europe on a 63-date club and Festival Tour
to include the very popular high end San Remo Festival.
Soon thereafter she received the coveted FIMI Best Dance
Act Award, Italy’s highest music honor, and her
releases landed three spots on Hit Parade Italia’s
top selling 100 of 1997. Very early on, this dance lady
of soulful riffs found success when in 1992 her first
single, “I’ve Got To Have You” released
on Blue Village /A&D Records became a dance club
anthem in Europe and Canada. Her hits include dance
floor faves “Ride On The Rhythm” which topped
the charts at #1 on Hit Parade and Musica e Dische.
“My Love For You”, her follow up immediately
went to #1 on Billboard, and other charts, as well as
radio and both releases remained on the Billboard chart
for 30 consecutive weeks. With her video’s still
finding their way on MTV Europe, Taborah expects to
return to Europe where previously her song have been
licensed in over 53 countries.

What makes Taborah the “real deal”? Perhaps
it’s her keen sense of dance, her innate natural
vocal talent and fun exuberant stage personality or
perhaps it is her love of great music and the art of
dance that makes her special? Says Taborah, “
music and dancing is what keeps us focused and alive;
beats reach our heart and our soul and who doesn’t
love to bump it up on a dance floor?” Whichever
the case, The Party has begun, so dust off those dancin’
shoes and get ready to shake your booty, because Taborah
will be “Ridin’ The Rhythm” at a venue
near you soon!
